Brand Information
Founded over 100 years ago in 1895, Ogura Orimono is the last remaining silk jacquard weaving studio in Japan specializing in post-dyeing techniques. Located in Ishikawa Prefecture, Ogura Orimono has a rich history of craftsmanship, including creating scarves for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and collaborating with prestigious international luxury brands.
In the pre-war era, the company focused on producing traditional Japanese textiles such as Mon-Wataju and Komatsu-Rinzu. After the war, they shifted their attention to exporting wide-format jacquard fabrics. The company has received numerous honors, including visits from the Japanese Imperial Family and the use of their silk in royal gifts. Their fabrics have adorned dresses in Paris Fashion Week and have even been featured in collaborative collections with renowned designers like Yohji Yamamoto.
Ogura Orimono is the last company in Japan still practicing the complex art of post-dyeing wide jacquard fabrics, which results in a product unlike any other in the world. They continue to uphold the heritage of traditional silk weaving, using rare 1960s looms and the skilled craftsmanship of their artisans to create fabrics that are both beautiful and durable.
