“Pitari-oki Tatami” is a tatami mat that can be easily placed in a corner of your living room or bedroom, creating a tatami corner of your desired size. In this trial series of Pitari-oki Tatami, we have created tatami mats specifically for souvenirs. Why not create a Japanese space to cherish your travel memories and enjoy the culture of Japan?
The surface of the tatami mat is made from processed traditional Japanese washi paper, similar to igusa (rush grass). Natural washi paper has exceptionally long fibers, making it thin yet durable and resistant. It is also a hygienic material that is less prone to mold. The core material is lightweight and sturdy for portability, and the sewing is finished with traditional “hashigo-nui” stitching, ensuring it does not unravel or tear.
Crafted by skilled artisans with years of experience, each tatami mat undergoes thorough inspection before being carefully packed in a dedicated bag for delivery. Please enjoy the culture of Japan!
