Transcend time and space through the scent to 1000 years ago in Japan
The “Old and New” Incense Experience with Six in Sense

About Bridge and Blend

Bridge and Blend’s “Six in Sense” is an incense inspired by Japanese blends from 1000 years ago. It is a modern recreation, as authentic blends as possible, of the recipes of 1000 years ago, a representation of scent of the time.

In this digital age where information overflows nonstop, we want you to take a moment to breathe.

Light an incense, follow the smoke with your eyes, listen to the fragrance. Hear your heart. Turn inward and connect with your “feelings.” Find your authentic-self again with the “old and new” incense experience by six Japanese fragrances from Six in Sense.

The Story of Bridge and Blend

The story of Bridge and Blend began when the founder returned to Japan after living abroad for a long time and asked herself the question, “What is the SCENT of JAPAN?” In her search for the answer, she came into contact with these fragrances that appear in the Tale of Genji written over 1000 years ago, a classic work of Japanese literature, as well as the culture of freely enjoying fragrance at that time. And her desire to pass on traditional Japanese scents to the next 1000 years led to the development of the brand.

In 2021, Bridge and Blend released “Incense Inspired by 1000-Year-Old Japanese Blends,” later renamed “Six in Sense,” via a successful crowdfunding project on Kickstarter.

Commitments

To be as authentic as possible, we followed the recipe from 1000 years old recipes. Based on the original formulation, more than 20% of the incense blend is agarwood, which is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. By doing so, we provide opportunities to learn about the depletion of natural resources and to feel the appreciation of having access to natural resources, and to connect the past with the present through incense experience.

Sustainability in Design Thinking

Our incense is designed to burn incense thoroughly from head to toe. We are particular about the cone-shaped incense and incense stand that the last 2-3 mm of the incense remains unburned like many incense sticks. A protruding incense holder allows the cone-shaped incense airflow and burns it completely. Our portable “fit-in-your-hand” package is made of durable steel can for reusable and recyclable. The lid is used as an incense dish, with an incense stand included. The refill is available to reuse the original container.
